Sunday : Proverb bible journal

[10] Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
[11] The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
[12] She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Pro

Why Rubies?

The value of a ruby was often used as a comparison for understanding the greatness of other items. In Proverbs in the Bible, it is explained that both wisdom and a woman’s virtue are said to have greater value than rubies:

In Christian tradition, ruby symbolizes the divine sacrifice of Christ on the cross, as the blood of Christ is represented in the purity and deep hue of the gemstone.  Rubies are mentioned several times in the Bible, including an account in Exodus of the gem-encrusted ceremonial breastplate of the High Priest of Israel

“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.”

Thanks for spending Sunday with Me..As I explore the women of the Bible this May…. lisa

Hello : ladybug

My next lady bug card is this great digital design of a Sunflower . on yello and orange background with orange ribbon and Hello message….

In general, the ladybug symbol stands for protection, healing, good fortune, and grace. It’s a very spiritual animal that often protects plants and flowers from pests and other bugs.

Lady Bug card

using this cut digital design I colored is the starting point for this card. I used the dots of the ladybug to choose this background dotted paper. And fabric bow.

Spots Are a Warning to Predators

A ladybug’s spots are a warning to predators. This color combination—black and red or orange—is known as aposematic coloration.

Ladybugs aren’t the only insects that use aposematic coloration to discourage predators. Just about any black and red/orange insect you can find is signaling the same thing to predators: “Stay away! I taste terrible!”

Paper Bag Mini album

  • 5 small paper bags
  • Whole punch or Crop a dile
  • Fibers (to tie together)
  • 3 large tags
  • die, Stamps, stickers and embellishments

To begin, 5 small paper bags were glued together, stacked on top of each other.  Then 2 holes were punched with a Crop-A-Dile in the side with the closed ends and fibers were added.

For the front I sponged the background layer with Distress Inks and embossed over top with a Cuttlebug folder.  Then I sponged over the raised areas again with another Distress ink.  I added a few dots of Stickles to the flower centers and Crystal Effects was applied to the center oval only.  You can see some crinkles underneath where the paper was previously crumpled  to distress. Then I added tags to each open end of the pages. Enjoy…

DIY Garden Stepping stones

  • Quick set Mortar
  • Mold for Stone shape old pie tin, round plastic container, plastic flower pot saucers, something that is strong but flexible
  • cooking spray
  • Embellishments for stone design: shells tile pieces, sea glass, beads, small stones, glitter, buttons
  • Outdoor Mod Podge sealer optional

Mix up the mortar following the manufacturer’s directions. Spray the mold with cooking spray. Then pour into mold. . Then tap the side of the mold to get any air bubbles out. Let the mortar “set” in the mold long enough so you can gently push your embellishments into the material. Once all your embellishments are placed, let the entire piece dry thoroughly in a warm dry place. 24 hours is a safe bet although some may be dry before then. After Dried _ Pop out of mold. You can sand off rough edges if needed. And Seal with Mod Podge to Seal.

Tip : use cooking spray on plastic mold before filling to ease popping out stepping stone.
